
Salter Receives CUSA and National Honors After WKU Win

After leading the Flames to a road win at CUSA preseason favorite Western Kentucky, Liberty's Kaidon Salter has received conference and national recognition.

Salter has been named this week's CUSA Offensive Player of the Week. This is his third weekly CUSA honor this season, as the sophomore quarterback also received the same award on Sept. 18 and Sept. 25.

Additionally, Salter has been named the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award Player of the Week (honorable mention selection), CFPA FBS National Performer of the Week (honorable mention selection) and to the Davey O'Brien Great 8 listing. The quarterback was also named to the Great 8 team on Sept. 18.

Salter led the Flames to a 42-29 road win at Western Kentucky, last Tuesday, moving Liberty's record to 8-0 on the season and 6-0 in CUSA play.

The quarterback was responsible for four of Liberty's six touchdowns (three passing, one rushing). He also posted his second-straight 100-yard rushing performance, leading the Flames with 13 carries for 117 yards.

The native of Cedar Hill, Texas now ranks No. 2 in the country in rushing yards by a quarterback (680 yards).

Salter threw for three touchdowns against the Hilltoppers, the most he has thrown this season against a CUSA opponent. He currently ranks No. 10 in the nation in passing touchdowns (19).

He finished the WKU game without throwing an interception, his fifth without an interception thrown in 2023. As a team, Liberty currently ranks No. 3 nationally in the fewest passed intercepted this season (3).

What's Next:
Following a string of four-straight midweek games in October, Liberty football and all of Conference USA action return to Saturday play for the final month of the regular season. Liberty welcomes Louisiana Tech to Williams Stadium on Saturday, Nov. 4 for Homecoming Weekend. The game will kick off at 6 p.m. and be televised on CBS Sports Network.
