
Liberty Set to Host ITA Atlantic Regional Championships

LYNCHBURG, Va. – Liberty is set to host the 2023 ITA Women's Atlantic Regional Championships beginning Thursday at the Liberty Tennis Complex. Seven Flames will participate in the prestigious event while two will serve as alternates.
The 25-team, five-day event consists of premier tennis programs from the Atlantic Region including Maryland, Old Dominion, VCU and Virginia. The Liberty Tennis Complex will be the primary location with both upper courts and indoor courts being utilized.
The ITA regional championships include both singles and doubles tournaments. The regional champions and finalists will earn invitations to compete at the 2023 ITA National Fall Championships, being held Nov. 1-5 at the Barnes Tennis Center in San Diego, Calif.
Live scoring or live video will not be available for the matches. Scores will be updated on the ITA website. Matches played at the Liberty Tennis Center will be streamed on PlaySight (link below).

Format:
Doubles- 8 game pro-set through Quarterfinals. 2 out of 3 sets for Semifinals and Finals.
Singles- Qualifying and Consolation, 2 sets with 10-point tiebreak third set. Main, 2 out of 3 full sets.

Tournament Breakdown
- Parra Romero looks to rebound off a tough outing at the ITA Women's All-American Championships going winless in two matches (Sept. 30-Oct. 1). The junior was unable to participate in Liberty's Hidden Dual the next week (Sept. 7-8) due to an injury.
- Senior Esther Lovato looks to build off her strong performance in fall tournaments this season. Lovato currently holds a 6-2 record that includes winning her career singles win No. 100 in her first match at the Flames Hidden Dual.
- Marina Davtyan was awarded with the Conference USA Women's Tennis Athlete of the Month award on Oct. 11. Davtyan's award included her 6-0 performance at the Tribe Invitational (3-0 singles and doubles). The senior collected a 2-1 singles record at the Flames Hidden Dual, to bring her singles record to 5-1 this fall.
- Freshman Maria Turchetto has impressed this fall, currently owning a 4-2 singles record.
- Senior Tiffany Nguyen went 2-1 in singles at the Flames Hidden Dual.
- In her first official singles matches since returning from injury, redshirt freshman Daniella O'Neill was 2-0 in singles at the Flames Hidden Dual.
