LYNCHBURG, Va. – The No. 7 Liberty Lady Flames bested the visiting James Madison Dukes 3-2 on Senior Day, Sunday at the Liberty Field Hockey Field.
Liberty improves to 14-1 on the year and has won nine straight games overall following today's non-conference triumph. Meanwhile, James Madison slips to 3-10 on the season and has dropped back-to-back contests.
Prior to the game, Liberty honored its 10-player senior class: Bethany Dykema, Azul Iritxity Irigoyen, Jodie Conolly, Lexi Hosler, Maddie Vicars, Pima Iturraspe, Milagros Arteta, Alyssa Maryanopolis, Maitland Demand and Emily Dykema. The senior class factored in on all Liberty three goals on the day, with Arteta scoring the first goal, followed by two goals from Conolly. The assists on Conolly's goals came from Hosler and Dykema.
The Lady Flames continue their best start to a season in program history with 14 victories in their first 15 matches.

After the Dukes tied the game up at 2-2 at the 50:37 mark on a goal from Alice Roeper, Liberty responded less than a minute later with a fourth quarter goal of its own to retake the lead.
Following an insert from Bethany Dykema and stick stop from Lexi Hosler, Jodie Conolly sent a shot into the right side of the goal cage for a 3-2 home lead. Conolly's goal, her second of the day, came at the 51:28 mark and proved to be the game winner.
