Flames Post Strong Outing on Day 2 of ITA Atlantic Regionals

LYNCHBURG, Va. – Liberty was victorious in four of six matches on the second day of the ITA Men's Atlantic Regional Championships, hosted by Liberty. Thursday's action saw the continuation of Wednesday's bronze singles draw and the first round of the silver singles draw.
Senior Rafael Marques Da Silva was the only Flame to not see the court on Thursday.

How it Happened
- Following two wins on Wednesday, Ernst Gouws was matched up against Penn State's Nolan Ranger in the round of 16 of the bronze singles draw. Liberty put up a similar fight from Wednesday that Head Coach Derek Schwandt commended. Gouws fell in the first set in a tiebreaker and nearly forced another tie in the second but came up just short. The final score of the contest was Ranger 7-6 (3), 7-5. The result concluded Gouws' time at the ITA Atlantic Regional.
- Redshirt senior Thando Longwe-Smit fell in his match to Temple's Gregoire Barety, 6-3, 6-4.
- Redshirt freshman Chase Robinson put up a strong outing, besting Bucknell's Adamantios Stavrakas, 6-3, 6-2.
- Sophomore Luis Felipe Miguel rolled over James Madison's Edson Sanchez, 6-2, 6-4.
- Freshman Matija Samardzic downed Delaware's Bernardo Teixera, 6-2, 6-3.
- As the second seed of the silver draw, Senior Deji Thomas-Smith made quick work of Penn State's Harrison Janes, 6-2, 6-4.
