Davtyan Secures CUSA Women’s Tennis Athlete of the Month Recognition

LYNCHBURG, Va. – Senior Marina Davtyan was awarded with the year's first Conference USA Women's Tennis Athlete of the Month recognition, the conference announced Tuesday. Davtyan went undefeated with a 6-0 run at the Tribe Invitational (Sept. 16-17), dominating both her singles and doubles flights with 3-0 records.
In her perfect run at the Tribe Invitational, Davtyan was the top singles seed in her flight. The Yerevan, Armenia native dominated, breezing through her singles to win her flight without needing to play a third set throughout.
At the Tribe Invitational, Davtyan was paired in doubles with Daniella O'Neill. The pair played together for the first time after Davtyan played all but 10 of her doubles matches last year with partner Esther Lovato.
Davtyan receives her first-ever conference weekly or monthly recognition. The award is also the first CUSA Women's Tennis superlative of the 2023-24 season.
