
Lady Flames Enjoy 21-Win First Day at Liberty Hidden Dual

The Liberty women's tennis team won 21 total matches on day one of the Liberty Hidden Dual, Saturday at the Liberty Tennis Complex.
The Lady Flames posted a 15-4 combined singles record and 6-2 doubles mark to finish the day with a 21-7 record and a .750 winning percentage.
Liberty swept the Georgetown Hoyas in four doubles matches during the morning. In the morning singles sessions, the Lady Flames posted an 8-2 record against players from Georgetown (eight), Navy (one) and Campbell (one).
During afternoon competition, Liberty compiled a 7-2 singles record against Campbell (eight players) and Navy (one player) and split its four doubles matches with the Camels.
Six Lady Flames went unbeaten on the day, including: Maria Juliana Parra Romero (2-0 doubles, 2-0 singles), Micaela Ode Mitre (2-0 doubles, 1-0 singles), Priscila Janikian (2-0 singles, 1-0 doubles), Marina Davtyan (2-0 doubles, 1-0 singles), Esther Lovato (2-0 singles, 1-0 doubles) and Tiffany Nguyen (2-0 singles, 1-0 doubles).

Key Stats & Notes
• Parra Romero, a sophomore, was the lone Lady Flame to win four total matches on the day, going 2-0 in doubles and 2-0 in singles. The native of Bucaramanga, Colombia, who set the school record with 29 singles victories as a freshman, dropped only one game on the day in singles while winning 24 games.
• Making her Liberty debut, Janikian went 2-0 in singles and 1-0 in doubles. The UC Santa Barbara transfer teamed up with Parra Romero in the morning doubles session for a 6-1 triumph over Georgetown's Avantika Willy and McHaley Ho, her first victory in a Liberty uniform.
• In singles, Janikian claimed her first win versus the Hoyas' Carmen Aizpurua without dropping a game (6-0, 6-0). Janikian followed up her morning performance with a 6-1, 6-2 result versus Lena Karlovcan of Campbell.
• Making her first appearance since Feb. 12, Davtyan was victorious in all three of her matches today, earning doubles victories with Lovato and Willa Rogers and a morning singles triumph over the Hoyas' Willy, 6-2, 6-3.
• Ode Mitre's two doubles wins today came with Nguyen and Parra Romero. Meanwhile, the Liberty junior upended Morgan Coburn of the Hoyas 7-6 (3), 6-0 in her lone singles contest.
• Lovato, the program's active career singles wins leader, added her 69th and 70th career singles victories today. The Austin, Texas native won both matches in straight sets, closing the day with a 6-1, 6-0 outcome over the Camels' Mariana Ossa.
• After a 6-3, 6-1 victory over Georgetown's Chloe Bendetti in the morning, Nguyen needed three sets to get past Navy's Sia Chaudry (7-6 (3), 4-6, 1-0 (10-6) in what was the final match of the day to conclude.
• Senior Alexandra Almborg earned two hard-fought singles victories today, defeating Georgetown's Agata Mikos (6-1, 6-4) and Campbell's Tamsin Hart (6-4, 7-5).
• Prior to today, the last time the Lady Flames hosted a fall event was nearly a year ago. The Liberty women's tennis program hosted the ITA Atlantic South Regional, Oct. 1-3, 2021.

The second and final day of the Liberty Hidden Dual will begin on Sunday at 9 a.m. Liberty and Navy will square off on the Liberty Tennis Complex Stadium Courts, while Campbell and Georgetown will face each other on the Upper Courts.
