
Strong Final Round Pushes Liberty to 6th Place Finish

Liberty posted its best score at the Rod Myers Invitational during the final round on Saturday, allowing the Flames to finish the event in a share of sixth place.
Liberty finished its third trip around the Duke University Golf Club (par 72, 7,154 yards) with a 5-under par 283, a nine-short improvement over Liberty’s second-round score on Friday.
Overall, the Flames (299-292-283) finished the event tied with UNCG (295-284-295) with both teams closing the event at 10-over par 847.
Alabama claimed the team title by 11 strokes, posting a winning score of 13-under par 851 (289-281-281).
Tournament host Duke finished in second place with a 2-under par 862 (295-280-287), followed by Charlotte’s 1-under par 863 (291-286-286).
Alabama’s Canon Claycomb claimed individual medalist honors with a winning score of 11-under par 205 (69-71-65). He paced 14 players who finished in red figures.
Liberty was paced by Austin Barbin (72-76-69) and Jonathan Yaun (74-69-74), who shared 17th place with a 1-over par 217. Each golfer was able to post a sub-70 round to aid in them opening up their senior seasons with a top-20 finish.
Isaac Simmons also joined the sub-70 club during the final round, as the redshirt junior birdied four of his first seven holes today. He finished the event tied for 28th place with a 4-over par 220 (78-73-69).
