No. 20 Liberty Drops Radford 11-3 for 7th Straight Win

The No. 20 Liberty Flames jumped out to a 6-0 lead over the first two innings and never looked back, sailing to an 11-3 win over the Radford Highlanders, Tuesday afternoon at Sherman Carter Memorial Stadium.
Liberty catcher Gray Betts collected three hits, including his first home run of the season, leading off the contest en route to driving in three runs and scoring three runs.
In addition, center fielder Derek Orndorff hit two home runs, his sixth and seventh, and had four RBI, while third baseman Stephen Hill had three hits and three RBI, scoring three runs in the contest.
Liberty extends its winning streak to seven games, improving to 7-1 on the year. Host Radford drops to 2-6.

- Reliever Garrett Horn recorded the win. The second Liberty pitcher in the contest, Horn gave up one run on two hits over two innings of work.

- Radford starter Gene McHugh took the loss. Liberty roughed up McHugh for five runs on three hits over 1 2/3 innings. He struck out three and walked two.
- Highlander Zack Whitacre had two hits, including his first home run of the season.

- Liberty met Radford on the baseball diamond for the 109th time, the most of any of its opponents in program history. With their win today, the Flames lead the all-time series, 70-39.
- Liberty played for the first time since 2018 at Radford, this afternoon. The Flames swept a three-game series from the Highlanders, April 8-9. Both teams were members of the Big South Conference at the time.

Liberty returns home to Worthington Field at Liberty Baseball Stadium to begin a seven-game homestand. The Flames will open the homestand with a three-game series against the Canisius Golden Griffins, this weekend. The series gets underway at 4 p.m. on Friday.
