The No. 35 Miami Hurricanes defeated the No. 57 Liberty Flames 7-0, Saturday afternoon in non-conference action at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center.
Miami improves to 9-1 overall and 8-0 at home. The Hurricanes run their winning streak to four matches. Liberty falls to 3-5 on the season and 1-3 in road matches. The Flames drop to 0-4 all-time against the Hurricanes.

How It Happened
• Miami won the doubles point and swept the six singles matches, winning five of the six in straight sets.
• The Flames' Josh Wilson won his opening set against Bojan Jankulovski at No. 2 singles, 7-6 (5). Jankulovski edged Wilson in a second set tiebreaker, 7-6 (5), to force a third set 10-point tiebreaker, which he won 10-8 to take the match 6-7 (5), 7-6 (5), 1-0 (10-8).
• Liberty's doubles unit of Deji Thomas-Smith and Christiaan Worst led the No. 27-ranked Hurricanes duo of Franco Aubone and Benjamin Hannestad by a 5-4 score. However, the match went unfinished when Miami clinched the doubles with a 6-4 win from Juan Martin Jalif/Oren Vasser over Rafael Marques Da Silva/Nicaise Muamba on court two.
• Aside from Wilson, the Flames' Thando Longwe-Smit won the most games from his opponent Casper Christensen but fell 6-4, 6-4.
• Liberty falls to 0-4 in matches in which they have lost the doubles point.
Next Up
• The Flames will face another ranked opponent, No. 49 Charlotte (5-4), next Friday. First serve between the two teams is scheduled for 2 p.m. at the Halton-Wagner Tennis Complex in Charlotte, N.C. Liberty is 3-1 all-time against Charlotte.
• Liberty and Charlotte squared off twice during the 2021 campaign, with the Flames winning both matches. The Flames won 4-3 on the road (Feb. 7, 2021) and topped the 49ers 5-2 (April 11, 2021) at the Liberty Tennis Complex.
