
Flames Compete in Pre-Qualifying at ITA All-American Championships

Liberty’s Christiaan Worst, Rafael Marques Da Silva and Beau Pelletier competed in pre-qualifying on day one of the ITA Men’s All-American Championships.
The three players dropped their opening round matches on Saturday at the Case Tennis Center at LaFortune Park in Tulsa, Okla. Worst battled his counterpart, Julien Penzlin of LSU, in a lengthy three-set battle. Penzlin edged Worst in a third-set tiebreaker to take the match, 6-4, 1-6, 7-6 (5).

Key Stats & Notes
• Marques Da Silva, the first Liberty player to take the court today (8 a.m. match), fell in two sets to Abilene Christian’s Dario Kmet, 6-2, 6-4.
• Pelletier, who got his tournament started at 9:45 a.m. versus Memphis’ Sam Edgar, dropped his match 6-4, 6-1.
• The Flames finished day one of the ITA All-American Championships with an 0-3 record. Liberty did not compete in doubles today.

Worst, Marques Da Silva and Pelletier will play backdraw matches tomorrow. Senior Josh Wilson will begin his journey in singles at the championship, Monday. The Flames will begin doubles qualifying on Monday as well.
