The Flames will take to the road for the first time this season when Liberty travels to Troy, Ala., to face the Troy Trojans at Veteran Memorial Stadium on Saturday.

Saturday's Top Storylines
- Liberty (1-0) will play its first road game of 2021 at Troy (1-0), Saturday evening. The Flames will seek their first-ever win in Alabama and the first win by a road team in the Liberty-Troy series all-time.
- Troy is the first of three Sun Belt opponents on Liberty's 2021 schedule (also ULM and Louisiana). The Flames are 6-1 all-time versus Sun Belt foes and have won three straight meetings with Sun Belt foes.
- In his third season as Liberty's head coach, Hugh Freeze could become the fastest Flames coach to record 20 victories with a triumph on Saturday. He has coached Liberty to back-to-back Cure Bowl victories.
- Liberty QB Malik Willis appears on numerous preseason watch lists including the Maxwell Award and Walter Camp Player of the Year Award. He totaled 272 yards of offense (217 passing/55 rushing) and two TDs (1 passing/1 rushing) during the season opener against Campbell.
- Liberty RB Joshua Mack leads active FBS players with 3,702 career rushing yards. He tallied 66 yards and a score on 19 carries last week against Campbell.
- The Flames unveiled a new-look defense against Campbell, with five players earning their first start at Liberty. Liberty held the Camels to seven points, recorded seven tackles for a loss and never allowed Campbell to reach the red zone.
A Liberty Win Would ...
- Mark the first victory by a road team in the head-to-head series with Troy, improving the Flames' all-time record against the Trojans to 3-1.
- Represent the Flames' fourth consecutive triumph when facing a Sun Belt opponent, boosting Liberty's all-time record versus Sun Belt members to 7-1.
- Give the Flames their first-ever victory in the state of Alabama (in seven tries).
- Make Hugh Freeze the fastest Liberty head coach ever to reach 20 wins, getting there in his 26th game with the Flames.
- Enable the Flames to open the season at 2-0 for the second year in a row, while denying Troy its first 2-0 start since the 2013 campaign.
- Even the Flames' all-time record when playing on Sept. 11 at 3-3-1.
