Liberty to Host Bellarmine in ASUN Championship Quarterfinal Match, Saturday

Liberty will host Bellarmine in a 2021 ASUN Women's Tennis Championship quarterfinal match, Saturday morning at the Liberty Tennis Complex. Match time is set for 10 a.m.
The Lady Flames (17-6, 6-0 ASUN) are the No. 1 seed in the ASUN North Division following a perfect 6-0 season in conference play. The Knights (0-16) are the No. 4 seed after an 0-6 ASUN regular season. The Lady Flames and Knights met twice in the regular season, with Liberty winning both of those contests.
Liberty topped Bellarmine 6-1 on the road, March 28, and defeated the Knights 7-0 at home, last Saturday at the Liberty Indoor Tennis Center.
The winner of Saturday's match will advance to the ASUN Championship semifinals, hosted by North Florida at the UNF Tennis Complex in Jacksonville, Fla., April 23. If the Lady Flames were to reach the semifinals, they will play against the lowest remaining ASUN South Division seed. The ASUN Women's Tennis Championship title match will be held the next day, April 24.
Lady Flames News and Notes
• With 17 victories, Liberty is two wins away from matching the program record for wins in a season. The 2015 team holds the school record for victories with 19.
• Liberty's Esther Lovato enters postseason play with a 21-1 singles record. In two seasons with the Lady Flames, she is a combined 39-6 overall in singles and 30-3 in spring singles contests.
• Of the Lady Flames' current roster, Grace Hashiguchi and Alexandra Almborg have experience competing in the ASUN Championship. Hashiguchi was a sophomore during Liberty's stint in the 2019 ASUN Championship, while Almborg was a freshman at the time.
• Collectively, Liberty sports a .714 winning percentage (45-18) in doubles this season and a .652 winning percentage (88-47) in singles.
• Liberty is 0-1 all-time in ASUN Championship play. The Lady Flames fell 4-3 to FGCU in the semifinal round in 2019. There was no ASUN Championship in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
