
Liberty to Compete on Road at Marshall and Bellarmine Over Weekend

ASUN North Division leader Liberty will face Marshall and Bellarmine on the road over the weekend.
The Lady Flames (12-3, 2-0 ASUN) will take on the Herd (4-5), Saturday morning in a non-conference matchup. First serve is set for 11 a.m. at the Brian David Fox Tennis Center in Huntington, W. Va.
Liberty, which leads the ASUN North Division at 2-0, will take on fourth place Bellarmine (0-12, 0-2 ASUN), Sunday. The match between the Lady Flames and Knights will begin at 11 a.m. at the Eddie Weber Tennis Complex in Louisville, Ky.
The Lady Flames are 6-1 in their last seven matches. They opened ASUN competition last weekend with a pair of road wins at North Alabama (5-2 final, Friday) and Lipscomb (4-3 final, Sunday).
The Herd are in search of back-to-back victories. Marshall's last match was 11 days ago (March 14), a 5-2 neutral site victory over Presbyterian. The Bellarmine Knights, who are a first-year Division I program, are still in search of their first win. The Knights were 9-0 in 2020 in what was their final season as a Division II squad.
Lady Flames News and Notes
• Liberty's Esther Lovato received her first singles national ranking on Wednesday from the ITA. She is currently listed as the No. 123 player in the country in the Oracle/ITA Division I Women's Singles rankings. The Austin, Texas, native is the fourth player in program history to be listed among the top-125 players in the nation.
• Liberty is unbeaten in singles at 14-0 in 2021. She is 12-0 in the No. 4 singles position and 2-0 in the No. 3 slot in the lineup.
• Marshall is 5-2 all-time against Liberty. However, the Lady Flames have won the last two matches in the series. Most recently, Liberty bested Marshall 4-3 on April 11, 2019 in Lynchburg.
• Liberty and Bellarmine are set to square off for the first time in women's tennis.
• The Lady Flames were voted to finish second in the 2021 ASUN Women's Tennis Preseason Coaches Poll, behind only North Florida. Bellarmine was tabbed to finish eighth in the ASUN preseason poll.
• At 2-0, Liberty is in first place in the ASUN North Division. Lipscomb (1-1) and North Alabama (1-1) share second place, followed by Bellarmine (0-2). The teams will face each other twice in regular season action.
• Collectively, the Lady Flames are 61-26 (.701) in singles and 31-11 (.738) in doubles, this season.
• The two matches this weekend will bring an end to a seven-match road trip for the Lady Flames. Liberty's last home match was against William & Mary, March 6 (5-2 win).
