A three-run home run by second baseman Will Wagner provided the big blow in a five-run first inning, as the Liberty Flames cruised by the Virginia Cavaliers 10-2, Wednesday afternoon at Worthington Field at Liberty Baseball Stadium.
With the win, Liberty extends its winning streak to 12 games, the second longest streak in program history. The streak is already the longest for the Flames at the NCAA DI level.
Wagner had two hits, the three-run home run and an RBI double, driving a career-high four runs in the contest. First baseman Logan Mathieu also had two hits in the game and hit a solo home run in the third inning.
Left fielder Aaron Anderson collected his fourth-straight multi-hit game with three hits, had an RBI single and made a spectacular catch of a foul ball down the left field line, tumbling over retaining fence in the fourth inning.
Liberty moves to 14-5. Virginia falls to 9-11.
