
Lady Flames Improve to 4-0 Following Another Sweep of Lancers

Liberty stayed unbeaten in 2021 with another 7-0 sweep of the Longwood Lancers, Sunday evening at Crosswhite Athletic Club.
Liberty is now 4-0 for the first time in program history. Longwood falls to 0-2 on the season.
The Lady Flames once again dominated the doubles session and took all six singles bouts in straight sets. Liberty is now 15-4 all-time against Longwood and has won the last 10 meetings in the series.

How It Happened
• The Lady Flames won all three doubles matches for the second time on the day and third time in four spring matches. Liberty only surrendered one total game in doubles and won 18 between the three courts.
• Liberty's No. 1 doubles unit, Alexandra Almborg and Eloise Saraty, earned a 6-0 win versus Emma Nurgazieva and Crystal Nzewi. At No. 2 doubles, Marina Davtyan and Grace Hashiguchi got past Adelaide Thuilot and Maria Saez 6-0 on court two to seal the doubles point.
• Nguyen and Ode Mitre collected their second win of the day as well, 6-1 over Zoe Barton and Nina Hederich in the No. 3 doubles bout.
• Liberty added to its lead and made it 2-0 after Davtyan (No. 2 singles) topped Nurtgazieva. Davtyan is now 3-1 in spring singles matches.
• The Lady Flames' third and fourth points of the match came from Kelly Lewis and Ode Mitre. Lewis' victory, the second singles win of her collegiate career, was a 6-4, 6-2 decision over Briee Jolliff on court six. Ode Mitre clinched the team victory with a 6-0, 6-1 decision over Nzewi.
• Liberty's Hashiguchi got her second singles victory of the day, this time winning in the No. 3 position (6-2, 6-1) against Thuilot to bump the lead to 5-0. Hashiguchi and Ode Mitre are both 4-0 in singles, this spring.
• Nguyen of the Lady Flames, playing in the No. 1 singles slot for the first time in her career, upended Saez 6-3, 6-3.
• Seeing her first singles action of the season, Liberty's Saraty (No. 5 singles) rolled to a 6-0, 6-0 win versus Hederich. Her victory settled the final score at 7-0.
• Liberty did not lose a set in either match today. The Lady Flames are 22-2 (.917) in singles and 11-1 (.917) in doubles so far this year.
• Sunday's two victories marked the first time since Feb. 11, 2018 that the Lady Flames earned a pair of 7-0 sweeps on the same day. On that day, Liberty defeated both Troy and Shaw 7-0 at Crosswhite Athletic Club.

• Liberty will play another doubleheader next Saturday. The Lady Flames will host Davidson (1-2) at 9 a.m. and Towson (0-0) at 4 p.m.
• The Lady Flames are 1-7 all-time versus Davidson. Liberty and Towson will be meeting for the first time in a spring dual match.
