Liberty Softball Head Coach Dot Richardson has announced the addition of three student-athletes to the Lady Flames’ softball program for the 2022-23 academic year. Savannah Jessee, Brynn McManus and Madison Tuck have all signed commitments to attend Liberty and play softball at Liberty beginning in the Fall of 2022.
These three student-athletes join a team that has gone to the postseason each of the last four full seasons years, including NCAA Regional finals appearances in both 2018 and 2021. This upcoming class includes one player each from Oregon, Tennessee and Virginia.
Savannah Jessee (C, Jonesborough, Tenn./Daniel Boone High School)
Savannah Jessee comes to Liberty as a standout catcher from Daniel Boone High School in Jonesborough, Tenn. As a junior, she batted .403 with 18 doubles, three triples, six home runs and 45 RBI. She received all-district and all-conference mention this spring, helping her team to sectional and regional titles. In 2021, her team reached the Tennessee 3A state tournament, where Jessee hit a two-run homer. The senior plays club softball for Carolina Elite. Jessee also plays varsity basketball.
“Savannah is an amazing young woman. She recognizes the gifts and passion God has given her in the sport of softball. Savannah plays catcher and third base. On defense, Savannah brings good instincts and a strong arm. At the plate, she has power and determination. She brings an even stronger drive to be the best player and teammate she can be. We are very excited to welcome Savannah and her family to Flames Nation!”
Brynn McManus (INF, McMinnville, Ore./McMinnville High School)
Brynn McManus travels across the country from McMinnville, Oregon to Liberty. She was named a first team all-league and first team all-state infielder in 2021, when she led all 6A players in the state of Oregon with a .618 batting average. McManus added six homers, 18 doubles and 25 RBI as a junior, earning 6A Pacific Conference Player of the Year honors. Before having the 2020 season lost to the CoVID-19 pandemic, McManus was a first team all-league infielder in 2019, helping her team to a top eight finish in the state. She plays travel softball for Northwest Bullets.
“Brynn is an incredible student-athlete who will bring power and consistency to the plate along with a strong arm and quickness to both the outfield and infield. She strives for her best in order to bring team success. She is making the trip from Oregon across country to establish her presence in the sport at Liberty; training Champions for Christ both on and off the field! We are so blessed to have Brynn and her family be a part of Flames Nation.”
Madison Tuck (OF, Vinton, Va./William Byrd High School)
Madison Tuck joins the Lady Flames as their latest addition from the Commonwealth of Virginia. She has contributed greatly to William Byrd’s success, beginning as a freshman when she batted .400 for the Terriers; VHSL 4A state championships-winning team. Tuck served as a team captain during the 2021 season, batting .340. Also a standout in track & field, she qualified for regionals in sprints and the shot put.
Tuck’s mom, Amanda Kelly Trent, played softball at Roanoke College.
“Madison is a fantastic individual and talented student-athlete. On the field, she will bring good speed, a good glove and consistent arm. She has a passionate drive to compete and contribute to the team. We are thrilled to welcome Madison and her family to Flames Nation!”
