LFSN's Nick Pierce caught up with former Liberty women's tennis standout Evangeline (Crist) Preston on the two-year anniversary of her record-breaking performance on the court.
Two years ago today (April 8, 2018), Preston established a new program record for career singles victories with her 88th win. She defeated Hampton's Haley Mullins 6-0, 6-0 at Crosswhite Athletic Club to set the record in a 7-0 Lady Flames win.
Five days earlier, Preston set a new school record with her 91st career doubles win, achieving the feat at Longwood. Crist and her doubles partner, Anna Dollar, topped the Lancers' Marija Venta and Kaori Terunuma 6-1 at No. 1 doubles for the milestone victory
Crist, a four-time Big South All-Conference selection, finished her career with 94 doubles wins and 92 singles triumphs, both still program records to this day.
Preston and her husband, Anthony, reside in Birmingham, Ala. She works as an Academic Relations Coordinator for the SEC.
