Following practice on Sunday, the Flames' second of August Training Camp, Liberty linebacker coach Kyle Pope was one of several assistant coaches to speak during Football Media Day.
Pope, along with co-offensive coordinators Kent Austin (quarterbacks coach) and Maurice Harris (wide receivers coach), along with defensive coordinator Scott Symons (safeties) and defensive line coach Josh Aldridge spoke with the media. Full interviews from each of the assistant coaches are available on the Liberty Flames Athletics YouTube page.
Prior to joining the Flames' coaching staff, Pope served as a defensive line graduate assistant for Alabama during the 2017 and 2018 seasons, helping the Crimson Tide to back-to-back College Football Playoff national championship game appearances and the 2017 national title.
Pope has a familiarity with Liberty after he spent the 2016 season at Presbyterian as a defensive line coach. Prior to coaching at Presbyterian, Pope served on staff at Holmes Community College as a defensive line coach and at West Alabama as an outside linebackers coach.
