
#YearOfTheFlames Campaign Celebrates 2019 Athletics Success

Since the calendar turned over to 2019 in January seven months ago, Liberty Athletics has experienced unparalleled success, both on and off the field of competition.
Today, Liberty Athletics is launching a new campaign – #YearOfTheFlames – giving Flames Nation a way to celebrate this unmatched success that has continued to push Liberty Athletics into the national spotlight.
As part of the celebration, Liberty Athletics has created a dedicated landing page on LibertyFlames.com to detail these accomplishments. Additionally, the Flames' social media accounts will start to use the #YearOfTheFlames hashtag to recognize any future achievements.
Come remember all that has made 2019 great for Liberty Athletics and join in the celebration as the Flames continue to look to make this a landmark year for the athletics department.
2019 #YearOfTheFlames Accomplishments:
- Liberty captured the ASUN Conference's Bill Bibb All-Sport Trophy during its first year as a member of the conference
- Liberty claimed eight ASUN Conference titles during the 2018-19 athletics season
- Flames finished No. 93 in the national Director's Cup final standings
- Liberty student-athletes maintained a 3.16 cumulative GPA during the 2018-19 athletics season
- 16 of Liberty's 20 athletics programs earned a 3.00 or higher team GPA during the 2018-19 athletics season
- Flames Club surpassed $1 million mark for first time in annual fund giving
- Men's basketball captured the ASUN title and won first-ever NCAA Tournament game
- Baseball claimed the ASUN Championship and downed No. 2 seed Tennessee at NCAA Regionals
- Men's Golf finished No. 20 at the NCAA Men's Golf National Championship
- Track & Field swept all four ASUN indoor and outdoor titles and had four student-athletes earn All-America honors at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships
- Softball won its NISC Regional for the second time in three years and advanced to the finals of the NISC Championship
- Men's tennis player Nicaise Muamba became the second player in program history to qualify for the NCAA Men's Tennis Singles Championship
