ASUN co-leader Liberty men's tennis will host the Stetson Hatters and North Florida Ospreys, Thursday and Saturday at the Cook Tennis Center.
Both matches will start at 3 p.m. Thursday's match features the Flames (9-9, 3-0 ASUN), who are off to a 3-0 start in conference for the second straight season, and the Hatters (9-9, 1-2 ASUN).
Saturday will be Senior Day at the Cook Tennis Center and includes a matchup between Liberty and the preseason ASUN favorite UNF Ospreys (9-9, 2-1 ASUN). Prior to the match, the team will honor senior Eddie Gutierrez for his contributions to the program with a Senior Day Ceremony.
Liberty will be looking to start 4-0 in conference for the second straight year on Thursday. The Flames also started 4-0 in the Big South Conference in Flames head coach Derek Schwandt's first spring campaign (2018). Liberty is coming off a thrilling 4-3 home triumph over Lipscomb, last Saturday. In that match, freshman Josh Wilson delivered a three-set victory on court two to bolster the Flames' home record to 4-0 in 2019.
Stetson is coming off a 6-1 home loss to FGCU, last Saturday in Fort Myers, Fla. The Hatters were selected to finish fourth in the conference.
North Florida, the defending ASUN champion, currently ranks tied for third in the conference with a 2-1 mark. The Ospreys, who will face Kennesaw State on Thursday on the rodad prior to making the trek to Lynchburg, won their most recent match by a 6-1 score at NJIT, last Saturday.
Liberty and Stetson last met 22 years ago in 1997, a 5-0 Hatters victory in DeLand, Fla. The Flames and Ospreys are set to square off for the first time.
