During their week of spring break, the Lady Flames tennis team will play three matches, two in Florida and one in Tennessee.
Liberty (5-5), winners of three of its last four matches, will start the road swing at Florida Atlantic (4-5) on Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the FAU Tennis Complex in Boca Raton, Fla.
The Lady Flames will then head to Fort Myers, Fla., for a neutral-site contest against the Chattanooga Mocs (7-3), Thursday. First serve is pegged for 10 a.m. at the FGCU Tennis Complex.
Liberty will wrap up its spring break with it's first-ever ASUN match at Florida Gulf Coast (FGCU) on Sunday. The match between the Lady Flames and Eagles (4-6) is set to begin at 10 a.m. at the FGCU Tennis Complex. The Eagles entered the national rankings at No. 50 on Feb. 26.
Liberty has faced Florida Atlantic (FAU) one previous time in program history on Feb. 24, 2017. The Lady Flames defeated the Owls 4-2 in that contest. The Lady Flames will be facing both Chattanooga and FGCU for the first time.
Lady Flames News and Notes
- Over its last four matches, Liberty is 7-3 in doubles and 12-7 in singles. Sophomore Grace Hashiguchi and junior Kalani Soli are 2-0 in doubles at No. 2 doubles. Seniors Maria Medina and Lara Soares are 3-1 in the No. 1 slot. Senior Anna Dollar (3-0) and Soli (2-0) are unbeaten in singles, while senior Ashley Bongart is 3-1.
- Liberty has featured two players in the singles national rankings during the 2018-19 campaign. Soares entered the rankings at No. 64, Nov. 14. On Feb. 20, Bongart received a No. 107 ranking from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA).
- The Lady Flames last played in Florida on March 14-15, 2017 (at USF and neutral-site against No. 28 Tulsa). Liberty played in Tennessee once already this season, a road match at ETSU on Feb. 9.
- Liberty is 3-5 on the road in 2019 but has won its last two road contests (James Madison, George Washington).
- A win over FAU on Tuesday would give the Lady Flames their first three-match winning streak of the season. Liberty won eight straight matches from March 31-April 20, last year.
