
Training Camp Position Previews: Cornerbacks

With Liberty's football training camp now under way, LibertyFlames.com continues is annual position preview segments today by looking at the Flames' cornerbacks.
The Flames' cornerback return a two-time All-Big South award winner to lead the group in Chris Turner. The redshirt junior was a second-team all-conference honoree in 2016, starting 10 of 11 contests during the season. He finished the year with 37 tackles, 34 of which were solo stops.
Opposite Turner this season will be Jeremy Peters, another junior who has played in 19 games over the last two seasons. The native of Green Cove Springs, Fla., has recorded 30 tackles since taking the field as a true freshman in 2015, including 24 solo tackles.
Adding depth at the cornerback position will be sophomore Jimmy Faulks and junior Cameron Jones. Both players gained valuable experience in 2016, seeing playing time in nine games each.
On the practice field today, the Flames held their third workout of August, transitioning to half pads for the morning workout. Tomorrow, LibertyFlames.com will visit with head coach Turner Gill, getting his take on the team's progress through the first week of training camp.
