
Training Camp Position Previews: Wide Receivers

With Liberty's football training camp now under way, LibertyFlames.com begins is annual position preview segments today by looking at the Flames' wide receivers.
B.J. Farrow and Antonio Gandy-Golden will look to take over the leadership role in this group following the graduation of Dante' Shells. Shells led the Flames with 655 receiving yards and eight touchdowns in 2016, allowing him to become the seventh player in program history with 2,000 career receiving yards (2,061).
Farrow has played opposite Shells the last two years, starting 21 of 22 contests in 2015 and 2016. During his first two years on the field, Farrow has tallied 62 receptions for 729 yards and five touchdowns. Last year, Farrow tied with Gandy-Golden for second on the team with three touchdown catches, while adding 30 receptions for 281 yards.
Gandy-Golden quickly made his presence known on Liberty's roster, seeing playing time in all 11 games as a true freshman. He finished his first year at Liberty with 21 receptions for 315 yards and three touchdowns, while ranking third on the team in average yards per reception (15.0).
Marquis Fitzgerald emerged as another option for the Flames in 2016, finishing with six receptions for 113 yards in nine games after spending time as a part of Liberty's special teams units in 2015.
Following a standout spring, Cephas Reddick was named the offensive winner of the Samkon Gado Award, giving annually to the most improved player during spring practice. Last year, Reddick saw playing time in nine games, recording an eight-yard reception against Jacksonville.
On the practice field today, the Flames held their second workout of August, practicing again in helmets only before moving up to a half-pad practice on Thursday. Tomorrow, LibertyFlames.com will continue its position previews with a look at the Flames' cornerbacks.
