Liberty Athletics will welcome members of the greater Lynchburg community on Friday for a ribbon cutting ceremony at its new indoor football practice facility.
The event is sponsored by the Lynchburg Regional Business Alliance and will begin at 3 p.m. The event is free of charge and open to the general public.
As part of the football program's FBS reclassification process, Liberty opened its newest football facility during the summer of 2017 – the Liberty Indoor Football Practice Facility.
The new $29 million project provides Liberty a full-size indoor football practice field, plus end zones, with a 70-foot ceiling clearance. The facility is located to the Northeast of the Arthur L. Williams Football Operations Center and adjacent to Liberty's other AstroTurf practice field.
Those interested in attending the ceremony are encouraged to park in Liberty's Bailey lot (located to the third base side of the Liberty Baseball Stadium) or Evans parking lot (located next to the LaHaye Multipurpose Center).
During the event, guests will have an opportunity to hear from Liberty University administrators, including Director of Athletics Ian McCaw and Head Football Coach Turner Gill, along with Megan Lucas, CEO and Chief Economic Development Officer for the Lynchburg Regional Business Alliance.
