Winstead Named to CoSIDA Academic All-District Team

All-American long snapper Hunter Winstead has been honored for his work in the classroom as he was named to the 2017 CoSIDA Academic All-District Football team early today by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
The native of Raleigh, N.C., has already completed his undergraduate degree at Liberty, finishing a double major in government and international business with a 4.00 GPA. He is currently working on his MBA and is maintaining a 4.0 GPA in his master's degree program.
With this selection, Winstead now moves onto the national ballot where he will be eligible for selection to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® Team. The 2017 CoSIDA Academic All-America® Division I Football Team will be announced on Dec. 14.
Winstead has been Liberty's starting long snapper since his redshirt freshman season in 2014, working alongside All-American kicker John Lunsford and All-Big South kicker Alex Probert and punter Trey Turner during his storied four-year career.
Winstead finished the last two seasons without a bad snap and has started 46 consecutive games for the Flames.
He is a two-time All-Big South performer (2015 – second team; 2016 – first team) and he was named to the Big South Preseason All-Conference team the last two years.
Winstead is a three-time Big South Presidential Honor Roll member and was awarded the Big South George A. Christenberry Award, last May for graduating with a 4.00 GPA. In 2016, he was selected to the FCS ADA Academic All-Star team, his first national academic award.
