Game On, the 30-minute weekly sports show that covers Liberty's athletics programs, added a new segment to its broadcast mix this year called "Game On Talks." The new series continued last week when Game On visited with Liberty Director of Athletics Jeff Barber.
Jeff Barber was hired as Liberty's 10th Director of Athletics on Jan. 23, 2006, and he assumed his leadership role over Liberty's athletics department in February after 10 years of working at the University of South Carolina.
Barber has been instrumental in leading Liberty on to the next level of collegiate athletics. His efforts were recognized in June 2012 when he was named the NACDA FCS Under Armour Athletics Director of the Year for the Southeast region.
Barber's decade of leadership has resulted in the most successful 10-year span in Liberty Athletics history. The Flames have claimed seven of the department's 12 Big South Sasser Cup titles since Barber's arrival in 2006, as well as, seven Big South Women's All-Sport Awards and six Big South Men's All-Sports Awards.
Liberty's athletics programs have continued to soar to new heights on the field of competition since Barber's arrival. Since 2006, Liberty has won 83 conference titles, including seven Big South football championships, and earned NCAA Tournament berths in baseball, field hockey, football, men's basketball, men's golf, men's soccer, softball, volleyball, women's basketball and women's soccer. Additionally, five individual NCAA Division I national championships have been won by Liberty student-athletes during Barber's time on Liberty Mountain.
