Following Liberty's Friday afternoon practice, the 11th of August Training Camp, LFSN reporter Alan York had a chance to talk with Liberty senior linebacker Nick Newman.
Newman led the Flames defensive unit in 2015, finishing the season with 74 tackles (49 solo, 25 assisted), helping him earn All-Big South second-team honors. He enters his final campaign as Liberty's active career tackles leader with 168 career stops (106 solo, 62 assisted).
Flames Head Coach Turner Gill and his coaching staff gave the players a small taste of traveling for road football games on Saturday. Their second scrimmage of training camp was held at an off-campus location.
Following a short special teams workout on Sunday, Liberty will return to Williams Stadium to begin its final week of August Training Camp on Monday morning. Liberty will conclude its preseason workouts on Aug. 27 when it hosts its annual Flames Fan Fest event (Scrimmage at 7 p.m.; Autograph session at 8 p.m.).
