Liberty Athletics will hold its fifth annual Flames Fan Fest event on Saturday, August 27 in conjunction with a Liberty Football open practice during preseason training camp.
Williams Stadium gates will open at 6 p.m. for the event and the team will scrimmage from 7 to 8 p.m. The event is free of charge and open to the general public. Fans attending the event will have the opportunity to take home a Flames Football Saturday yard sign! These signs will be available on a first come, first serve basis.
Many of Liberty's traditional game day activities will be available to fans, including Kid's Zone. Fans are encouraged to participate in tailgating prior to the event. In addition, our Sodexo concessions stands will be offering a $6 combo meal for all fans which includes a hot dog, chips, and a 20 oz. fountain drink.
Following the scrimmage, Liberty Athletics will hold an autograph and photo session on the concourse level of Williams Stadium. Head Coach Turner Gill and his staff will be available for autographs and photos directly following the scrimmage, followed shortly thereafter by the student-athletes. The meet-and-greet session will run for approximately an hour.
In addition, the Liberty Flames Sports Network will be doing a two-hour radio show around the event, starting at 7 p.m. The broadcast will air on statewide radio network of The Journey (88.3 FM) and will cover the scrimmage, plus provide post-practice interviews with coaches and players. Affiliate stations in Virginia and North Carolina can be found at www.liberty.edu/thejourney/wherecanilisten/. Alan York will host the show along with Nick Pierce and Matt Warner.
