With Liberty's spring football practice well underway, LFSN reporter Alan York recently had a chance to talk with senior linebacker Dexter Robbins about the team's spring workouts.
Robbins is one of Liberty's more experienced returning linebackers along with fellow senior Nick Newman. Robbins entered the spring as the starter at weak-side linebacker, while Newman is penciled in as the backup at middle linebacker.
Robbins has played more games than any other of Liberty's defensive players, having seen action in 37 career contests. Most of his experience came as a part of Liberty's special teams units as a freshman, but he has become a mainstay among Liberty's linebackers the last two seasons.
Last year, the native of Sevierville, Tenn., saw playing time in 11 games and finished the season with 34 tackles (14 solo, 20 assisted). He enters his senior year with 84 career tackles (44 solo, 40 assisted).
On the practice field today, Liberty held its third workout of the week and 10 of spring practice from 4:20 to 6:40 p.m. The Flames will wrap up this week's spring practice schedule with a Saturday afternoon practice (2:30 to 4:15 p.m.) in preparation for next Saturday's Spring Football Game (April 16 – 4 p.m.).
