The Flames Club held its sixth and final Thank-A-Thon event of the 2015-16 athletics year on Wednesday. The event gives Liberty student-athletes the opportunity to personally connect with Liberty's athletics donors.
The purpose of the Thank-A-Thon event is to have Liberty's student-athletes call athletics donors who have contributed to the Flames Club in the past year. During the call, the student-athletes are able to thank the athletics donors for the gifts which enable them to enjoy their athletics experience.
A total of 136 student-athletes participated in six Thank-A-Thons this academic year, three in each semester, and made a total of 2,040 phone calls. On Wednesday, 24 student-athletes from men's basketball and women's swimming and diving participate in the Thank-A-Thon event, making a total of 360 calls to donors.
The Thank-A-Thon event pushes the student-athletes outside their comfort zone, as they are asked to call people whom they typically do not know personally and thank them for investing in their Liberty education.
Liberty's athletics donors enjoy the opportunity to speak with a student-athlete, who expresses their appreciation for the donors' generosity.
The mission of the Flames Club is to raise financial support for Liberty Athletics, and to equip our coaches and student-athletes with everything they need to compete at a championship level.
Members of the Flames Club can enjoy preferred parking, seating, and game-day hospitality privileges, based upon membership level.
