
Liberty Posts Six Wins on Day Two of Red and Blue Challenge

The Liberty women's tennis team posted a 6-3 record on the second day of competition at the SMU Red and Blue Challenge at the SMU Tennis Complex.
After earning just one singles win on Friday, the Lady Flames won four of their six matches in singles. Senior Emily Groeneveld bested SMU's Sara Jamal in straight sets, 6-3, 6-2. Sophomore Anna Dollar knocked off Tessa Van Der Ploeg of Wyoming, 6-4, 6-2.
Junior Evangeline Crist scored a 6-3, 6-2 victory over Wyoming's Miranda Talbert. Senior Mariely Hassey topped Loyola Marymount's Julia Norlin, 6-2, 6-1.
Following three doubles victories on Friday, the Lady Flames earned two on Saturday. Dollar and Crist defeated Tulsa's Marcelina Cichon and Mahitha Dadireddy, 6-2, to improve to 9-2 as a pair, this fall.
Anderson and Panchenko won their second match in as many days, defeating Ana Tkachenko and Miranda Talbert of Wyoming, 7-6 (3). The sophomores stand at 7-3 as a unit, in the fall of 2016.
In two days of competition, Liberty has a 10-8 overall record against a strong field, which features four teams from the top 75 of the 2015-16 ITA rankings.
The final day of the Red and Blue Challenge begins at 10 a.m., Sunday.
