
Flames Drop Mid-Week Contest

The Liberty Flames men's tennis squad fell to the William & Mary Tribe earlier this afternoon, 4-0 in Williamsburg, Va. With the loss, Liberty falls to 12-9 on the season while William & Mary improve to 13-11. The Tribe improve to 6-0 all-time against the Flames.
William & Mary started the contest by claiming the doubles point. Lars de Boer and Addison Appleby bested Jorge Azuero and Sam Matheson, 6-3 from the No. 2 doubles position. Christian Cargill and Damon Niquet then dropped the Liberty freshmen duo of Diego Castano and David Bush, 6-3 to claim the early 1-0 advantage.
Will Juggins extended the Tribe lead to two after downing Dillon Segur in straight sets, 6-3, 6-2.
Niquet had similar success against Egon Samaai from the No. 4 singles flight, notching a 6-4, 6-3 victory to run the lead to 3-0.
It was all but over when William & Mary's Alec Miller defeated Castano in two sets, 7-6 (3), 6-2 to claim the 4-0 advantage.
With the match already in hand, the two squads called off the remaining three singles matches to solidify the 4-0 Tribe victory.
Liberty returns to action on Sunday when the Flames close out their regular season with a Big South showdown against Radford at 1 p.m. in Radford, Va. With a win on Sunday, Liberty would improve to 6-2 in conference action for the first time in program history.
