The No. 4 seed Liberty women's tennis team embarks on its quest to capture its first ever Big South title on Wednesday with a quarterfinal matchup against No. 5 seed Campbell at 3 p.m.
Prior to departing for the site of this year's tournament, Asheville, N.C., the Lady Flames' head coach Jeff Maren had a chance to talk with Liberty Flames Sports Network's Alan York. During the interview, Maren discusses the team play heading into the tournament as well as the matchup against the Camels.
Liberty and Campbell most recently squared off on March 23 when the Lady Flames bested the Camels, 6-1 in Lynchburg, Va. Liberty is 5-3 all-time against Campbell, including four out of the last five outings. Tomorrow's bout will mark the first time the two programs have squared off in the Big South Championship.
If the Lady Flames advance past Campbell, they will take on the winner of match No. 4 on Friday at 10 a.m., which features No. 1 seed Charleston Southern and the winner of match No. 1 between No. 8 seed Gardner-Webb and No. 9 seed Presbyterian. The Lady Flames defeated Charleston Southern on March 21 by a score of 4-3 and then bested Presbyterian, 7-0 on March 29. Liberty closed out its Big South regular season with a 5-2 victory at Gardner-Webb on April 4.
