
Lady Flames Prepare for James Madison

The Liberty Lady Flames tennis squad (6-1) hopes to continue its red hot start with a victory against in-state opponent, James Madison on Saturday. The contest is slated to begin at 1 p.m. at the Sports Racket.
Liberty is off to a program-best 6-1 start, including a current four-match winning streak, to begin the 2015 campaign. In their most recent outing, the Lady Flames bested Akron in a 5-2 victory in Akron, Ohio on Sunday.
Freshman Evangeline Crist continues to leave her mark on the program, pacing the Lady Flames with a 6-0 singles record and 7-0 doubles record. Crist leads the team in both singles and doubles competition.
Overall, Liberty is a combined 30-12 in singles play and a strong 16-5 in doubles matches to begin the season.
James Madison is off to a strong start themselves with a 4-1 record thus far, the Dukes' strongest start since beginning the 2005 season with a 6-1 mark.
Saturday's match between the Lady Flames and the Dukes marks the ninth time that the two programs have squared off. The series is currently tied at 4-4 with Liberty winning four out of the last five matches against James Madison. In the most recent showdown, the Lady Flames bested the Dukes on their own court in Harrisonburg, Va. by a score of 4-3 on April 2, 2013.
Following Saturday's match, Liberty returns to action on Feb. 21 in a home contest against the Marshall Thundering Herd. The contest is slated to begin at 1 p.m. at the Sports Racket.
