
Lady Flames Conclude Play at Wake Forest Invitational

The Liberty Lady Flames tennis squad finished Sunday's play with a 5-6 record in singles competition.
Belen Rivera highlighted singles play as the senior finished second in Flight B Singles. Rivera began Sunday competition with a three-set victory over Wake Forest's Sam Asch. Rivera claimed the first set, 6-3, and then fell just short in the second set as Asch evened the score after a 7-5 victory. Rivera then ousted Asch with a 6-1 victory in the third set to advance to the finals against the Demon Deacons' Anna Ulyashchenko. Rivera had the tables turned against her as the Bolivia native fell in three sets, 6-4, 4-6, 6-1.
The Lady Flames received wins from Mariely Hassey, Evangeline Crist, Lauren Mabe and Anna Dollar. Hassey, Mabe and Dollar each won back draw matches in the consolation bracket whereas Crist claimed the fifth place slot in the D Singles Flight, besting Gabrielle Wreder, 6-4, 6-1.
Liberty returns to action on Thursday when the Lady Flames host to the ITA Atlantic Regional for the first time in program history.
