Capital One Academic All-District Softball Team
Liberty junior second baseman Megan Robinson has been named to the 2014 Capital One Academic All-District III Softball Team, as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), today.
As a result of her inclusion on the academic all-district team, Robinson will now appear on the ballot for the 2014 Capital One Academic All-America® Division I Softball Team.
Robinson, a native of Richlands, Va., holds a 4.0 grade-point average as a youth ministries major. She joins current teammate Sammi Shivock, who was an academic all-district selection in 2013. Overall, six Lady Flames have now earned the award in program history.
Robinson has been a catalyst for the Lady Flames' offense this season. She is batting .303, while leading Liberty with nine doubles (tied), eight home runs and a .535 slugging percentage. She ranks second on the team in RBIs (26) and third in runs scored, with 22. Her nine multiple-RBI contests pace the Lady Flames, while she is second on the squad with 12 multiple-hit games.
She went on a team-best nine-game hitting streak, batting 14-for-31 (.451) from April 18 through April 26. During conference play, she hit .307 with eight doubles, four homers, 14 RBIs and 13 runs scored.
A 2013 Big South All-Academic Team member, Robinson has been named to the Big South Presidential Honor Roll twice. She also earned NFCA All-America Scholar-Athlete mention in 2012.
The Lady Flames finished the regular season with a 10-44 record, including 4-20 in Big South play. Liberty closed out the schedule with two wins in a row at Presbyterian College, Saturday and Sunday. The team awaits seeding for the 2014 Big South Softball Championship, which will be held May 8-11 in Conway, S.C.
