Despite Coastal Carolina giving up its first points of the year at home, the Chanticleers knocked off Liberty 4-3, Saturday, in both teams' Big South Conference opener.
Homestanding Coastal Carolina (6-1), who took its fourth consecutive home victory, jumped out to a 1-0 lead after sweeping doubles play from the Flames (3-3). It is the first time Liberty has been swept in doubles this season.

The Chanticleers took the No. 2 and No. 3 matches in straight sets.
Tristan Stayt was victorious in the No. 4 match for his second straight win, as he defeated Matias Di Pasquale, improving to 4-2 for 2012. Despite dropping the opening set, 6-2, Stayt rebounded with sets of 7-6, 7-6, to take the hard-fought win.
Freshman Jorge Azuero picked up the final point for the Flames in the No. 6 singles match, defeating John Karle. Azuero also came from behind for the victory, 3-6, 7-5, 6-3.
