The Flames returned to the tuft at Williams Stadium for practice No. 16 of their 2011 Football Training Camp, working out under clears skies for about two hours on Wednesday afternoon.
Following their final "two-a-day" practice on Tuesday, the coaching staff held separate meetings during the morning on Wednesday with the offense and defense. When the units were not meeting, they spent time lifting in the weight room inside the Williams Football Operations Center.
The Flames were "On the Line" at 2:20 p.m. for practice, one which focused heavily on a review of first and second down plays. Additionally, head coach Danny Rocco began to install the last segment of his offensive and defensive schemes, as Liberty's coaching staff worked with the players on red zone situations.
The Flames held five different team units during the afternoon workout, with the last four focusing solely on Liberty's efforts inside the 20-yard line.
Following today's practice, Liberty's players will have a few extra hours to rest and prepare for tomorrow's workout. Liberty will hold its second night practice of 2011 Football Training Camp in conjunction with the University's Chancellor's Cookout on Thursday.
The annual evening program introduces Liberty's incoming freshmen to the school's athletics traditions and gives the newest Flames fans a prime opportunity to watch the football team practice. The Chancellor's Cookout starts at 5:15 p.m., with the football team slated to take the field for practice No. 17 at 6:45 p.m.
