236 Liberty Student-Athletes Make Big South Presidential Honor Roll

Liberty had 236 student-athletes earn inclusion on the 2010-11 Big South Presidential Honor Roll, Big South Conference Commissioner Kyle B. Kallander announced today.
To be named to the Presidential Honor Roll, student-athletes must have maintained a grade point average of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) or higher for the recently completed academic year.
With 236 honorees, Liberty had the most student-athletes of any conference institution earning a mention on the Big South Presidential Honor Roll. Over 51 percent of Liberty's total student-athletes were named to the roll, capping off another stellar year academically for Liberty student-athletes.
Liberty men's basketball player Jeremy Anderson and men's soccer goalkeeper Panashe Nhekairo garnered the conference's most prestigious academic honor in 2010, the George A. Christenberry Award for Academic Excellence. Both student-athletes graduated in May with 4.00 grade-point averages in their respective fields of study.
Three individuals were also named Big South Scholar Athlete of the Year for their respective sports in 2010-11. Josh Edmonds and Jennifer Klugh received the honor for the men's and women's cross country teams, while women's tennis player Jordan Jenkins was named her sport's scholar athlete for the second consecutive year.
In addition, the Liberty volleyball team was honored by the AVCA with the association's team academic award for the 2010-11 academic year. The award recognizes programs with a team grade-point average of 3.30 or higher.
