No. 23/24 Liberty survived its first overtime game since the 2007 season, downing visiting Presbyterian College, 27-20, Saturday afternoon, at Williams Stadium.
The Flames took a 13-10 lead on a six-yard Aldreakis Allen touchdown run late in the fourth quarter, only to have the visiting Blue Hose quickly march downfield to force overtime with a 22-yard field goal with five seconds remaining in regulation.
Both teams scored on their first possession in overtime. During the decisive second overtime period, Mike Brown found Chris Summers for a 25-yard touchdown pass, while Liberty's defense kept Presbyterian College from matching to secure it fifth-straight victory.
Liberty is now 4-5 all-time in overtime games and moves to 6-3 on the season and 4-0 in Big South play.
