The Flames Sports Hotline, a weekly radio call-in show featuring head football coach Danny Rocco and members of his staff, returns this evening at 7 p.m. For the second year in a row, the Flames Sports Hotline will air weekly on Victory FM (88.3 FM – Lynchburg, Roanoke, Danville), the flagship radio station for the Flames Sports Network.
The weekly show is hosted locally in Lynchburg on Liberty University's campus at Doc's Diner, and the restaurant is open to the general public. The show is broadcast live throughout the 50's-style diner and fans are encouraged to participate during the call-in segments.
Alan York, the radio "Voice of the Flames," will host the call-in show, which opens weekly with a 10-minute segment with a member of Rocco's coaching staff. This week, York will begin the 60-minute show by welcoming defensive line coach Levern Belin.
Belin's defensive linemen have played a large part in Liberty's stout defense this season, one that ranks No. 5 nationally in total offensive yards allowed per game (275.33). Liberty also ranks No. 26 nationally in rushing defense (117.17 yards allowed per game) and has surrendered just seven rushing touchdowns.
Liberty has kept is last two opponents from finding the end zone, marking the first such stretch since holding back-to-back opponents in 1995 without a touchdown. Last weekend, Liberty opened up Big South play with a 35-3 victory at Gardner-Webb, where All-America nose guard Asa Chapman tied a career high with seven tackles.
Following the opening portion of the show, York will welcome Rocco for his first segment. The pair will discuss Liberty's Big South victory over Gardner-Webb and look ahead at this week's Homecoming match-up with No. 20 Coastal Carolina.
Rocco is currently his sixth year at the helm of the program and has guided Liberty to four-straight Big South Conference titles and five-consecutive winning seasons.
Following the first segment with Rocco, York will open up the phone lines and field questions from the radio listening audience or those seated inside Doc's Diner. Fans unable to make it out to Doc's Diner each Tuesday night may call in at (877) 401-9041 to participate in the weekly show.
Those not able to participate in the call-in portion of the show can also email their questions for Rocco to FSNbroadcast@liberty.edu, prior to the start of the show.
Flame fans can listen to the show locally by tuning their radio dials to Victory FM (88.3 FM Lynchburg) or one of their local affiliates for the Victory FM Radio Network. The show will also air live online at LibertyFlames.com and can be heard by clicking on the link above.
