The Flames Sports Hotline, a weekly radio call-in show featuring head football coach Danny Rocco and members of his staff, returns this Tuesday night at 7 p.m. New for the 2010 season, the Flames Sports Hotline will air weekly on Victory FM (88.3 FM), the flagship station for the Flames Sports Radio Network.
The weekly show is hosted locally in Lynchburg on Liberty University's campus at Doc's Diner, and the restaurant is open to the general public. The show is broadcast live throughout the 50's-style diner and fans are encouraged to participate during the call-in segments.
Alan York, the new radio "Voice of the Flames," will host the call-in show, which will open weekly with a 10-minute segment with a member of Rocco's coaching staff. This week, York will begin the 60-minute show by welcoming defensive line coach Levern Belin.
Belin's defensive linemen played a large part in Liberty upending FBS opponent Ball State this past weekend, 27-23, marking the team's second victory over a FBS program. Spotlighting the play of the defensive line was a sack by nose guard Asa Chapman on a fourth-and-two play with less than one minute left in the contest.
Patrick Bannon and Chapman each finished the game with five stops, while Greg Schuster followed with a career-high four tackles. Ball State managed to penetrate Liberty's 20-yard line five times, but only could come up with one touchdown during those five drives.
Following the opening portion of the show with Belin, York will welcome Rocco for his first segment. The pair will review Liberty's road victory at Ball State, reflect upon the weekend where four FCS programs downed FBS teams and take a look ahead at Liberty's second-straight road game at Robert Morris.
Rocco is currently in his fifth year at the helm of the program and has guided Liberty to three-straight Big South Conference titles and four-consecutive winning seasons. Rocco's sustained success on Liberty Mountain has helped the Flames remain a Top-25 program. Liberty enters this week ranked No. 14 in the FCS Coaches poll and No. 15 in the Sports Network/Fathead.com Top 25 FCS ranking.
Following the first segment with Rocco, York will open up the phone lines and field questions from the radio listening audience or those seated inside Doc's Diner.
Those not able to participate in the call-in portion of the show can also email their questions for Rocco to FlamesHotline@liberty.edu, prior to the start of the show, or send direct messages to York's Twitter page (www.twitter.com/luradiopxp).
Flame fans can listen to the show locally by tuning their radio dials to 88.3 FM Victory FM or one of the local affiliates for the Victory FM Radio Network. The show will also air live online at LibertyFlames.com and can be heard by clicking on the link above.
