
Liberty Garners No. 4 Seed

The Liberty Flames have been seeded fourth for this week's Big South Men's Tennis Championship, which begins Thursday in Radford, Va. Liberty will meet No. 5 seed Gardner-Webb in the first round.
Having posted a Big South record of 4-2, Liberty finishes the regular season tied with Coastal Carolina for third in the conference standings. By virtue of their victory over the Flames earlier this season, the Chanticleers are seeded third, while the Flames receive the No. 4 seed.
Liberty's Big South mark ties the 2003 Flames team for the best conference record in program history. The 2003 squad also garnered the championship's No. 4 seed.
The Flames will enter their Thursday match against Gardner-Webb who they defeated earlier today, 4-3, with a 12-9 overall contest. Liberty has won nine of its last 12 matches, including a 4-3 win over No. 1 seed Radford, which was the three-time Big South Champion's first loss in a Big South dual since 2007.
Winthrop is the conference's No. 2 seed. UNC Asheville, the No. 6 seed, and Presbyterian, the No. 7 seed, round out the field.
The 2010 Big South Men's Tennis Championship begins Thursday, with three matches and concludes with the title game on Saturday, at 1 p.m. Liberty and Gardner-Webb will meet in the first match of the day at 10 a.m., Thursday. The Big South's tournament champion receives an automatic bid to the NCAA Men's Tennis Championship.
