
Gordon Named BSC Freshman of the Week

The Big South Conference announced today that Liberty guard Evan Gordon has been named the Crons Brand Freshman of the Week for his performances in last week's contests against UCF, Buffalo and VMI.
Gordon (Indianapolis, Ind.) averaged 16.0 points, 3.3 rebounds, 3.0 assists, shot 50.0 percent from the floor (18-of-36) and 85.7 percent from the free throw line (6-of-7) in three games for the Flames. After collecting seven points, five rebounds and two assists against UCF on Dec. 29, he tallied a team-high 17 points against Buffalo on Dec. 30, going 3-of-6 from beyond the arc and 7-of-12 overall from the field, in addition to two steals. Gordon led Liberty to a 110-102 victory over VMI this past Saturday with a career-high 24 points on 9-of-13 shooting (69.2 percent). He also handed out six assists and blocked one shot against the Keydets.
Gordon is the second player to be named Big South Freshman of the Week this season, joining forward Antwan Burrus, who earned the honor on Dec. 14.
Gordon and the Flames return to action Thursday night, as they travel to Clinton, S.C., taking on Presbyterian. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. inside the Templeton Center.
