FCS Coaches Poll
Sports Network Poll
Liberty's stout defensive effort against North Carolina Central on Saturday was good enough to help secure a 35-10 win for the Flames, but it was not enough to move Liberty up in the national polls.
For the second-straight week, Liberty is listed at No. 24 in the FCS Coaches Poll, as the Flames garnered 57 points in the weekly ranking. Liberty is just behind No. 23 Eastern Kentucky, who also remained in its same spot with 66 points, while ranking just ahead of No. 25 Harvard, who received 46 votes despite not having played a game in 2009.
In similar fashion, the Flames remained the second team listed in the "Others Receiving Votes" section of the Sports Network Poll. Liberty, who is essentially No. 27 in the weekly ranking, took home 205 points and is behind No. 25 Harvard, with 267 points, and Eastern Illinois with 241 points.
The Flames did manage to crack a second Top 25 this week, as Liberty moved up one spot to take the No. 25 ranking in the AnyGivenSaturday.com poll with 275 points. Last week, the Flames were listed as the first team in "Others Receiving Votes," as Liberty took home 37 points to be "ranked" No. 26.
Liberty will put its No. 24 ranking in the FCS Coaches Poll on the line this weekend when the Flames travel to Easton, Pa., for a Big South Conference against Patriot League showdown with Lafayette.
Last year, the Leopards ended Liberty's 11-game winning streak by handing the Flames a 35-21 setback inside Williams Stadium on Oct. 18, in the first-ever meeting between the two programs.
