The Flames wrapped up the home portion of their 2009 schedule with their third-straight dominating Big South home victory, as Liberty made the most of eight turnovers en route to a 54-14 over in-state foe VMI, Saturday night, at Williams Stadium.
The win pushed Liberty's Big South winning streak to 15-straight games and upped the Flames record to 7-2 on the year and 4-0 in league play.
News and Notes from the VMI game:
• The victory over VMI extended Liberty's Big South winning streak to 15-straight games.
• Liberty's current 15-game Big South winning streak is the longest conference winning streak in Big South history.
• With 15-straight Big South victories, Liberty's conference winning streak is still the third longest active conference winning streak among FCS programs (ranking behind Appalachian State – 18 games/Southern and South Carolina State – 17 games/MEAC).
• Liberty has now won five-straight games, which is tied for the ninth-longest FCS winning streak in the country.
