
Two Lady Flames Compete at ITA Regional

Liberty's Nadia Solomon-Burgess and Jordan Jenkins competed this past weekend at the Wilson/ITA Atlantic Regional.
Solomon-Burgess won two matches in the qualifying rounds to secure a spot in the main regional draw to open the tournament. The junior defeated Alexis McCoy of Morgan State, 6-1, 6-1, to open the qualifying bracket. Later, Solomon-Burgess topped St. Joseph's Jen Kedierski, 6-3, 6-0, to advance into the main regional draw.
In the main regional bracket, she joined teammate Jenkin. Solomon-Burgess fell in her opening contest in the main draw to Ragini Acharya of William & Mary, ranked 107th in the country, 6-1, 6-1. Meanwhile, Jenkins dropped a 6-3, 6-2 decision to Shannon Betts of Virginia Tech.
In doubles, the two teamed to defeat the No. 7 seed in the bracket, Kristina Kopricina and Thaddea Lock of Marshall, 8-3, in their opening match. Later, Solomon-Burgess and Jenkins fell to William and Mary's AnikCepeda and Carmen Pop, 8-5.
With the regional tournament, Liberty concludes its fall tournament schedule. The Lady Flames will open their spring schedule, Jan. 29, at the Greenbriar Resort in White Sulphur Springs, W.Va., against either James Madison or West Virginia.
