
Liberty Falls in Big South Semifinals

Coming off a victory in the opening round of the Big South Women's Tennis Championship, the No. 2 seeded Liberty Lady Flames squared off against the No. 3 Coastal Carolina Chanticleers in the semifinals on Friday. Coastal Carolina advanced to the conference finals with a 4-0 win.
The Lady Chanticleers struck early, taking 2-of-3 doubles matches to earn the point. Liberty's freshman tandem of Stephanie Brown and Hannah Fick defeated their No. 2 doubles counterparts, 8-5. Coastal then responded by taking No. 3 doubles, 8-6.
The point came down to a No. 1 doubles dual, pitting Liberty's Jordan Jenkins and Ekaterina Kuznetsova against Coastal's Amy Pazahanick and Lexi Bolesky. In a tightly contested game, the Chanticleer pair ended the Liberty's No. 1 doubles unbeaten streak with a 9-7 win to capture the point.
Coastal Carolina carried its momentum into solo action, claiming three-straight singles contests. In No. 2 singles, Bolesky defeated Martyna Hanusz, 6-1, 6-1. Coastal's Kim Webb took No. 4 singles over Fick, 6-0, 6-4. Pazahanick ended Jenkins undefeated streak in No. 1 singles with a straight set, 6-2, 6-4 victory, giving the Chanticleers their fourth and final point needed to advance to the finals.
The 13-4 Lady Flames end the season with their best record in program history. The Big South Women's Tennis Championship concludes Saturday at 9 a.m., as Coastal takes on No. 1 Winthrop in the finals.
