
Lady Flames Fall to High Point in Big South Action

Despite singles wins at No. 1 and No. 3 and a doubles win at No. 1, the Liberty Lady Flames dropped a Big South match-up to the Panthers of High Point, 5-2, Tuesday afternoon at Liberty's Esbenshade-Hershey Tennis Courts.
Liberty's Jonita Randolph and Martyna Hanusz picked up a victory at No. 1 doubles, defeating High Point's Suzanne Celensu and Caroline Mount, 8-6. However, the Panthers were victorious in the remaining two contests to capture the day's doubles point.
In singles action, the Lady Flames prevailed at No. 1 and No. 3, as Randolph and Kathy Waldthausen both won their matches in straight sets. For Randolph, the win was her thirteenth on the season, as the senior now holds a 13-1 record for the year. Waldthausen's victory was her second in her last three individual matches.
High Point prevailed in the remaining singles contests to complete the day's match-up and wrap up its win.
The Lady Flames' record now stands at 5-9 overall and 2-4 in the Big South Conference. Liberty returns to action on April 11, as it continues conference play with a match against regional rival Radford. Match time versus the Highlanders in Radford, Va., is scheduled for 2 p.m.
