Brewington Decides To Turn Pro

Liberty University Men's Basketball Head Coach Ritchie McKay has announced that Dwight Brewington will forego his final season of eligibility and turn professional after spending one season with the Flames.
Brewington anticipates hiring an agent after averaging 14.7 points and 4.7 rebounds as a junior. The Lynn, Mass., native came to Liberty in 2006 after playing two seasons at Providence in the Big East Conference. Brewington will conclude his collegiate career with 801 career points over 74 games which is good for an average of 10.8 ppg.
"We are supportive of Dwight in his decision to pursue a professional opportunity," said McKay. "Our prayers and support are with him and we wish him all the best in his future endeavors."
Brewington had a career night for the Flames on Jan. 27 when he scored 30 points on 12-of-14 shooting in Liberty's 122-117 victory over VMI at the Vines Center. Brewington sat out the first seven games of the year due to the NCAA transfer rule after transferring from Providence to Liberty for the Jan. 2006 semester.
"I believe Coach McKay could be one of, if not the best coach I could ever have," stated Brewington. "But it is time to take care of my family. I am going to get my degree regardless, but for now I am putting it on hold to pursue my dream of playing professional basketball."
